Amnesty Human Rights Film Festival Victoria

PEJ News - The 7th Annual Amnesty Human Rights Film Festival is coming up this weekend, Nov 21-23 2008 at UVIC's David Lam Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 pm each night and entrance is by donation. We will have over 30 local/international organizations present at the event in an effort to connect global issues to local activism. We will also have guest speakers introduce films and be present for questions afterwards. There are some excellent films this year. We are bringing the award winning film War Dance to the big screen on fri night, as well as the film Triage, on a humanitarian doctor's journey to Somalia and Rwanda. The film USA vs Al Arian on sat night is a very strong film about the PAtriot Act and humanitarian law. We will have a film focusing on rape in the Congo and a speaker who will be able to address sexual violence in areas of armed conflict as well as the current situation in the DRC.
