1.  FRITZfilms to Sept 11 - Salt Spring
Following the Labour Day long weekend I thought it might be a good idea to lighten things up a bit and give us all a break!  Stardust is a great fantasy adventure that doesn't take itself too seriously & Arctic Tale is sure to please everyone who loved the great visuals in March of the Penguins...and yes,, there is a good environmental reminder at the end of the film!
STARDUST - A young man named Tristan tries to win the heart of Victoria, the beautiful but cold object of his desire, by going on a quest to retrieve a fallen star. His journey takes him to a mysterious and forbidden land beyond the walls of his village. On his odyssey, Tristan finds the star, which has transformed into a striking girl named Yvaine. However, Tristan is not the only one seeking the star and must face many challenges along the way.  Starring Sienna Miller, Claire Danes (as the fallen star), Michelle Pfeiffer (the evil witch), Robert DeNiro (the crazy pirate) & Charlie Cox (the romantic hero)
ARCTIC TALE - From the people who brought you March of the Penguins a real-life adventure in the coolest place on earth. Two narratives -- the life cycle of a mother walrus and her calf, and the life of a polar bear and her cubs -- are used to illustrate the challenging realities of existence in the Arctic. Arctic Tale is a film whose intent is to kindle youthful compassion for living things and inspire action to protect Earth and its creatures.  Suitable for all ages.
Coming in the near future: The Nanny Diaries; The 11th Hour; Superbad; Into the Wild & much more!

>6:30 Monday Sept 10   SHUT UP AND SING  The Dixie Chicks
Time again to look at the aftermath of 9-11...
Here's a sparky little doc that follows the fortunes of the hottest band in America when, at a London concert, one of the members uttered the words, "We're ashamed that the president is from Texas". In a country that purports freedom of expression, the band received an extreme backlash, plummeting popularity, even death threats. This is the story of how the band survived, and thrived, through that time. 14A some language and criticism of "Our Pres". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZC5NJjwou0
