Ottawa Citizen: Backbench Liberals are rebelling against their government's plan to begin missile-defence talks with the United States, saying Defence Minister David Pratt is "sticking his neck out" by forging ahead without caucus support. The MPs reacted angrily to Mr. Pratt's move to seek more information on the plan after CanWest News Service disclosed yesterday that a Canadian defence department document last year warned the missile-defence shield risks paving the way for the placement of weapons into space. |

The Progress Report: Though neglected by major media in the United States, international news sources report that French law enforcement authorities have made Vice President Dick Cheney the target of a criminal investigation for his role in a massive bribery scandal during his time as CEO of Halliburton. Le Figaro, one of France's biggest (and most conservative) newspapers, reports "an investigative judge is looking into allegations of corruption during construction of a natural gas complex in Nigeria by Halliburton and" a French oil company. |

We witnessed the greatest uprising of people ever in the history of the world in protest to war. In cities large and small across the planet, ordinary people took to the streets to try to stop a US-led war against Iraq. In the end, we didn?t succeed, but our effort marked the opening of a new era of global protest against war and violence. |
