Mexican-born director Luis Mandoki returns to his Latin roots with
this tale of child soldiers. Innocent Voices is set in 1980s El
Salvador. Chavas is an 11-year old boy who lives with his mother and
sister in a rudimentary shack. Though his life is tough, he still
attends school and enjoys the usual childhood games with his gang of
buddies. But civil war is raging in the jungles and mountains and
