Monday 6:30 Feb 11 KING CORN
This feature documentary is a gentle look through the eyes of two "everymen" who plant an acre of corn in Iowa. They watch it grow and investigate what happens to it. It's a gentle, creative way to explore the wonders and foibles of modern day mega-agri-business and food distribution. 90min pg13

5.  LOVE THE LIBRARY RALLY - Feb 14th
Join us on February 14th
12 noon to 1:00 pm
* Show support for your library workers by forming a human ring around The Emily Carr Branch Library
3500 Blanshard Street (if you get to the Saanich Municipality offices you have passed it)
* Bring your gumboots for some stomping and your voice for some chanting.
* Refreshments and the opportunity to meet other library lovers.
My own personal opinion:
When I worked at Hillside Mall on Saturday at the Volunteer Fair at the Friends of the Library table I encountered many, many people are very supportive of the library workers and want those bull-headed board members to get back to the bargaining table and deliver pay equity for the women. The situation is outrageous.  Given the fact that the Campbell government has after 6 years had its hands slapped by the Supreme Court of Canada to the tune of more than $75 million dollars (when it ruled on Bill 29 re: the Hospital Employees Union), you would think the local politicians would have learned that collective bargaining is a right protected under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.  Justice will come for these library workers; it's just a question of how much it's going to cost everyone !   The HEU workers paid dearly.  Let's not repeat this unnecessary mistake. Let's get organised !
Please write to your Mayor and Council regarding getting back to the bargaining table to settle with the Library workers.  There is an easy way to do this, by going to
http://www.cupe410.ca/ for the link and some information or by just going to   http://overduepromise.ca/ and choosing your municipality.

6.  Crop Circles, Exopolitics & A Positive Human Future - Feb 15th
STAR DREAMS
Award winning documentary by Robert Nichol
"Visually Breathtaking" Victoria Times Colonist
Alfred Lambremont Webre, JD, MEd
Futurist & Author
"Alfred Lambremont Webre's odyssey into the realm of life in the vast Universe surrounding planet Earth is indeed a fascinating journey if you read it with an open mind...  To turn us in the direction of re-unification with the rest of creation the author is proposing a 'Decade of Contact' -  an era of openness, public hearings, publicly funded research, and education about extraterrestrial reality. That could be just the antidote the world needs to end its greed driven, power-centered madness."
- Honorable Paul T. Hellyer, Minister of National Defense under Canadian Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson and Deputy Prime Minister of Canada under Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau
DVD and Talk:
Friday February 15th 19:00 - 21:00,

9.  third annual Valentine's Celebration for the Earth - Feb 17th
February 17
from 2 - ~5
in Moss Rock Park.

We have done many ceremonies "on the rock" and for this year the fairies and spirits of this place have requested that we get to know each other either for the first time or to deepen our understanding and relationships.  I am very exited about this... we share the land, the air, the water and the fire with them and they are eager to teach us and show us a way that honours our great mother and all her children.

* Please bring some earth-friendly finger food to share with each other and something shiny for the fairies or any other offering for the spirits of place.  Songs, poems, stories, dances are always very welcome.
* This is an outdoor event, please dress for the weather... the winds can blow very cold up there!!!!!
* Children are welcome, however the parents are responsible for their well-being at all times.
* And last but not least, please tell your friends about this or share this message with your lists... giving consciously thanks to the earth in a circle is one of the most important tasks we can do in this life time.
Love and blessings and hope to see many of you then!!!
Marianne
