October Is Make Poverty History Month

PEJ News - Linda -Monday, October 8th (5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m .) A Make Poverty History Hunger Banquet at St. John the Divine Church Hall (W/C). Bring family and friends and have fun while learning about poverty issues locally and globally. Featuring Maxwell Dancers, an abundance of Island grown food, information from local groups working to alleviate poverty. Admission is by Donation. Presented by VIDEA & the Breakthrough for Africa Project, Partners for Prosperity, Maxwell International Baha'i School, KAIROS, Faith-In Action, OUR Ecovillage and BC Council for International Cooperation.

International Day for Eradication of Poverty. A press conference is being organized by downtown churches and other faith communities. Highlight issues of poverty and how faith communities in Victoria are dealing with this. Harold Munn (St. John's the Divine - Anglican) and Alan Saunders (First Metropolitan United) are on-board but need more voices.
