This engrossing film focuses on the horrifying, sometimes unintentionally funny system of observation in the former East Germany. In the early 1980s, the successful dramatist Georg Dreyman and his longtime companion Christa-Maria Sieland, a popular actress, are big intellectual stars in the socialist state, although they secretly don't always think loyal to the party line. One day, the Minister of Culture becomes interested in Christa, so the secret service agent Wiesler is instructed to observe and sound out the couple, but their life fascinates him more and more...  137min Pg13

2.  Cowichan Folk Guild Meeting - Oct 1st - Providence Farm

As autumn begins,  so does a new year for the Cowichan Folk Guild. The Annual General Meeting of the Guild will be held on Monday, October 1, 2007, at 7:00 PM at Providence Farm to elect a new Board of Directors.

In 2007 -2008 the CFG will bring to the Cowichan Valley the same level of fine programming as in past seasons, another marvelous Islands Folk Festival in July of 2008, and some exciting new special events.
