- The Canadian Red Cross presents the 5th annual Humanity Strikes Back conference. A weekend of action-skills training for passionate high school students on issues of children and war, landmines, and HIV/AIDS. January 20th-21st, all day. Register at www.redcross.ca/lowermainland.

During the Humanity Strikes Back! conference, youth in grades 9 - 12 (14 - 18 years old) will delve into global issues faced by countries in crisis.  Interactive issues workshops explore the topics and action workshops provide skill training and brainstorming around different ways to ?strike back?.

Issue based workshops cover:

Small Arms and Children Affected by War
Landmines and Remnants of War

Action based workshops cover:

Active Global Citizenship:  Individuals Choosing to Make a Difference

Building a Culture of Peace:  Starting With You

Event 101:  Planning for Success

Working Effectively in Groups:  Building Real Consensus

Using the Media:  Getting Your Voice Heard

Attend this 2 day youth conference and meet others who also want to make a difference! This is a great opportunity to make an impact by gaining valuable insights and ideas, practical tools and meaningful connections with other youth.
