PEJ News

This past week, Israel has used the excuse of rockets fired into ?their? territory from Occupied Palestine to mete out devastating air and artillery attacks against the general population. The onslaught, couched in the familiar terms of ?defence? and ?retaliation? and repeated by the ever complacent media, does not alter the fact: Israel?s action, the targeted killing of civilians, constitutes a crime against humanity.

But, that?s nothing new; what is different this time is the support Israel is receiving from Canada, and the European Union in the collective financial punishment of Palestine for electing a Hamas government last January.

William A. Cook is a professor of English at California?s, University of La Verne, and the author of the books: ?Psalms for the 21st Century,? ?A Time to Know,? and the newly released, ?Tracking Deception: Bush Mid-East Policy.? He?s also a frequent contributor at CounterPunch.org. William A. Cook and tracking deception in the first half.

And; last week the testimony of Vice President Dick Cheney?s former chief of staff, Scooter Libby to a Grand Jury investigating the ?outing? of CIA agent, Valerie Plame fingered George W. Bush as the initiator of the leak.

But, what would be a crime for anyone else is being claimed a right of the Commander in Chief.

Or is it?

Robert Parry is an American journalist, author, and publisher of the web news site, Consortium News.com Robert Parry and revisiting high crimes and misdemeanors on Pennsylvania Avenue in the second half.

And; Janine Bandcroft will be here at the bottom of the hour to bring us up to speed with all that?s good to do in and around Victoria this week. But first, William A. Cook and Palestine?s Hamas challenge to democracy.
