Death of The Secret Ballot - scoop

The secret ballot was compromised in the BC election today.     The School near Craigflower and Tillicum in Victoria had an absentee ballot area for people from other ridings to use.    First they take your name and get you to fill out a document even though you showed up with a voter card.   Next you vote and return with the ballot.   Then the ballot is put in an envelope and sealed, put in another envelope, sealed and then your name and address are written on the envelope which of course removes your guarantee of a secret ballot under the constitution.

This is not only just a crime but one of the most grievous crimes that could happen.   It is the beginning of the end for our way of life, our freedoms and the constitution.

When confronted with all this the Supervisor said that it is necessary to track votes and that it is in the rules they are given to follow and this has been going on for many years.    When it was pointed out to the supervisor that the constitution trumps rules and procedure and that what she was involved in was breaking the law, the response was to complain to Elections BC.

Not only are those who created the procedures trashing the constitution(which by the way brings to mind the word traitor) it would also appear that everyone involved from the top to the bottom of that decision are equally to blame.

The person in question had grabbed their vote back and torn it up but not before the pollsters had a chance to see the vote and match it to the name again in the name of procedure thus making the compromise of the secret ballot complete.

Still wanting to vote the person finally made it to the correct polling station at Rock Heights school after 2 busses and a fifteen minute walk to a location that even mildly physically disabled people could not reach.    The vote went without a hitch.   The voter stopped before leaving and related the story to the pollsters who sat with their mouths open in disbelief and commented that they had never heard of such a procedure.

Later I talked with a friend of mine from James Bay who went through a similar procedure and related her story to the NEW VI news

The election should be declared invalid.  Those responsible should be held accountable and liable.   They are over the line.  Way over the line.  It is time for us all to demand a stop to this erosion of our rights and liberties.
