The Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada is a union representing scientists. they have recently chosen to speak out against Prime Minister Stephen Harper. This is a unique situation since the union, 55 000 professionals in the public service sector, usually stays neutral during elections.

The union has decided to expose the damage done by Harper’s government. Members have become outraged by what they call the muzzling of federal scientist and the political bias that has been interfering with their ’empirical results’.

The union performed an in depth survey about the integrity of the work being done by scientist and they found that hundreds of scientist were being pressured to either remove or alter information in government documents for political reasons. Thousands of other scientist have been prevented from speaking freely about their work through any medium.
