Canadian made advantage

Polite Company points us to the auto industry and some good background on the costs.

GM in the US says it will layoff 25,000 American workers by 2008. Why American workers, isn't GM an American company? GM has figured out that medical coverage for its employees is $1500 per car. So anywhere from 5 to 10% of a car's cost is to pay for medical for workers.

Rob Peter to pay Paul

I could not resist. Rob Peter to pay(off) Paul. Neither Peter (Belinda's former beau) nor Paul deserve this outcome. Peter because he is a real conservative and a love struck puppy and Paul because he gets a prize he has not earned.

Harper's holy alliance

Rick Barnes

The Christian Right is rallying its crusaders in the wake of Stephen Harper losing his motion this week in Parliament. They are putting up a brave face too. They tell us they expected to lose and perhaps they did. Their goal is delay and or kill the bill with an election, hoping Harper will win.

Emails to Hell: Same-sex marriage cyber war

Focus on the Family will spend an unprecented amount of money advocating against same-sex marriage, hoping to convince lawmakers to vote against the same-sex marriage law.  This along with thousands of emails being sent to every MP will help create an illusion that they have public support.  Email fraud is what Kelowna gay rights advocate Rick Barnes calls it.

Rick Barnes has been a gay rights activist for 25 years, recently moved into BC's Okanagan bible belt, Kelowna. Rick is also editor of GLBTQ issues for PEJ News
