VIHA replaces 15% wage cut with a Smile
The Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) website is about to launch its smile teams. I am not making this up. The authority is going to go up and down Vancouver Island smiling at staff and if that smile is really bright, they will be giving away treats.
This is the same health authority that has cut thousands of jobs, extended working hours and rolled back wages and benefits by 15% of those health care workers that remained. And they think a smile will improve moral. This effort happening now wouldn't have anything to do with the election would it? Thats what Haveyouhadenoughyet? concludes. - Rick Barnes

Hertzog News Update
PEJ News - News and Opinion - Remember Stuart Hertzog and his accusations about how unfair he was treated by the Green Party of which he was a member? Well it seems that Stuart was so unhappy with Elizabeth May running in his riding that he filed a complaint with Elections Canada. As it turns out Elections Canada informed him that it found insufficient grounds to even warrant pursuing an investigation. So now the road is clear for Elizabeth to sink Gary Lund in the next election. Perhaps Stuart could get a job reforming the Conservative Party. He certainly has laid the groundwork to get the job. www.PEJ.org |

On the Way Home
PEJ News - On the way home from a movie in Victoria BC, I crossed the road at the intersection of Arrow Road and Cedar Hill in Saanich at 9:35pm on July 10, 2009. There was a solar energy operated crossing light that required the pedestrian to press a button to activate the flashing light. The light was not working. www.PEJ.org |

Kelowna Hospital to be Painted Purple
PEJ News - Rick Barnes - Wow, what a difference a couple of months make. Same old stuff, same colour too! *Code Purple at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) again. Not long before I winged east KGH had issued at least three Code Purple's in a 24 hour span. BC Liberal Health Minister George Abbott was quick to point out that relief was on the way, some long term care beds would be opened for seniors currently in acute care hospital beds thus relieving some of the pressure.

BC Liberal goes too far, Lies and more lies,"Our government, by comparison, is the first government in the last two decades to actually raise benefits for persons with disabilities. We fought long and hard for that, and I am glad that we were able to do it. We were able to do it because we straightened out British Columbia's financial problems" Lorne Mayencourt, MLA Vancouver Burrard. May 13, 2005 BC Legislature |

Social workers cut - placed huge workload - Sherry Charlie
Commenting on the Sherry Charlie's case this morning on CKNW Stan Hagen, Minister of Children and Families stated initially the Ministry Social Workers did not send the criminal record information they had on Ryan Dexter George (the person Sherry Charlie was placed with), to the Aboriginal Social Workers. Mayor Larry Campbell won't run Update: For the real reason, or word on the street as why Larry Campbell quit, the Gazetteer doesn't disappoint ... Mayor Campbell will not seek to be re-elected this fall. "I am not a politician, but I did accomplish a lot in the last three years." ~ Mayor Larry Campbell at a press Conference, June 30, 2005.

Deep throat wanted It was interesting to have "Deep Throat" identified. His actions helped defeat a dishonest and corrupt government. The Gazetteer, a BC blogger with a knack for putting words together has more. We had people years ago that spoke out, that left little brown paper bags. Today any leak from the BC government is followed by intensive internal investigation, not about what was leaked but who leaked it.
