Stephen Harper's Potential New Year's Resolution: Mea Culpa

PEJ News - Joan Russow, Ph.D. - Global Compliance Research Project - Since I [Stephen Harper] pressured the Governor General to (i) dissolve Parliament in order for me to avoid the investigation, by the Parliament Ethics Committee, into "my creative funding in-and-out financial scheme" in the 2006 election, and (ii) prorogue Parliament to evade a non-confidence vote. I HAVE HAD AN EPIPHANY.

I awoke on Christmas Day, and I decided the following:

I resolve to attend the Governor General's Levee on January 1st, 2009. I will ask her to summon Parliament on January 12, and I will step down and urge her to call upon the coalition government-in-waiting to govern. I acknowledge that I have erred in failing to acknowledge the seriousness of the current economic situation; I have erred in failing to address Canada's international obligations related to climate change; I have erred in failing to adopt the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; I have erred in failing to support the human right to water, I have erred in substantially increasing the defence budget, and in deluding Canadians that we should be in Afghanistan; I have erred in many other ways, of which many Canadians may not be aware etc.

If you can think of other ways I have erred, Please contact me:
