Here's UVic Radio CFUV "Gorilla Radio" covering today's concurrent solidarity demo in Victoria, during which 75 people demonstrated outside Jim Pattison's Save-On Foods (boycott please) http://www.gorilla-radio.com/index.php?id=792

Here is a report from Ingmar Lee. about the rally in Bella Bella and the occupation of the DFO office in Vancouver.

The Heiltsuk Nation, in a desperate attempt to prevent Canada's wealthiest man, -Jim Patisson- from carrying out his HarperCon DFO sanctioned kill fishery, have evicted and occupied the Bella Bella DFO base. Currently, 75 people are occupying the site.

Meanwhile, here in Vancouver, yesterday, DFO HQ was locked down and occupied by 4 activists inside, while outside, 50 people blocked the intersection at Burrard and West Pender for two hours. Today, as the Bella Bella occupation continues, yet again, DFO Vancouver HQ was locked down, as was the Jim Pattison Canfisco plant, with personnel inside, and yet again, Burrard and West Pender were blocked, -largely by Heiltsuk youth. In an utterly shameful display of callous ignorance, not a single entity of the corporate media bothered to cover these momentous events. The Vancouver Sun, in a shameful display of corporate lackeyism and frankly, racism, could not be bothered to send a reporter a single block away to cover the event. Nor was the HarperCon CBC interested at all, Nor Global, nor CTV, nor The Tyee, nor the Georgia Strait, nor any university newspaper, nor a single radio station.

It is a measure of the ill-will and irrelevance of the corporate media to the death-fight of protecting our planet that anyone who is awakened to the outrageous cowardice and gluttony that purports to lead this country, will be closely observing this critically important issue of global significance is easily spreading far and wide via alternative media.
